Story Writing: Where There Is a Will, There Is a Way

Title: The Clever Crow and the Pitcher

It was a blistering summer noon, and the blazing sun scorched the earth with relentless heat. All ponds, streams, and mud pools had dried up into cracked clay. A weary crow was flying over a suburban garden, half dead with agonizing thirst, searching desperately for a single drop of water.

Just as his wings were giving way to exhaustion, he spotted a tall earthen pitcher standing beneath a mango tree. Overjoyed, the crow flew down and perched eagerly on the narrow neck of the jar. To his immense disappointment, he saw only a shallow puddle of water at the very bottom, completely beyond the reach of his short beak. He tried to overturn the heavy jar, but it was too weighty for his fragile body.

Instead of yielding to despair and flying away to die, the clever crow looked around and noticed a heap of small rounded pebbles scattered across the garden path. An ingenious idea flashed across his keen mind. Picking up the pebbles one by one with his beak, he patiently dropped them into the pitcher. As each stone sank, the water slowly rose higher and higher until it reached the very rim. The jubilant crow quenched his thirst to his heart's content and flew away into the blue sky with renewed vigor.

Moral: Where there is a will, there is a way.
