Two Friends and the Encounter with a Forest Bear
Read the beginning and develop the story into a complete moral narrative:
Once, two close friends named Rahim and Karim were journeying together through a dense and dangerous forest. Aware of the wild beasts prowling nearby, they made a solemn pact that whatever danger might befall them, they would stand side by side and protect each other...
Completed Story:
As they were walking down a shadowy path, they suddenly heard a terrifying growl. To their horror, a massive, ferocious bear emerged from behind the thick bushes, lumbering rapidly toward them with bared teeth.
Panicking instantly, Rahim, who happened to be an agile climber, completely forgot his solemn vow of friendship. Without a backward glance or a word of warning to his companion, he leaped toward a tall banyan tree, scrambled up its branches, and concealed himself safely amidst the dense foliage.
Karim, who did not know how to climb trees, found himself trapped alone on the forest floor. He realized that running away was futile against a swift beast. Fortunately, he remembered a piece of folk wisdom: bears do not touch a dead body. Acting with extraordinary presence of mind, Karim threw himself face down onto the earth, closed his eyes, and held his breath, simulating a lifeless corpse.
The huge bear approached Karim, sniffed his ears, nose, and neck with warm, heavy breaths. Believing the man to be stone dead, the beast lost interest, turned around, and plodded back into the depths of the forest.
Once the coast was clear, Rahim descended briskly from the tree, chuckled nervously, and asked, "My dear friend, I saw the bear whispering something intimately into your ear! What secret did it impart?" Karim brushed the dust from his clothes and replied coldly, "The bear gave me a very valuable piece of advice: never trust a selfish friend who deserts you in the hour of peril." Saying this, Karim walked away alone.
