Sheikh Saadi was an illustrious Persian poet and philosopher whose sublime verses and moral teachings enlightened generations. Despite his international fame, he maintained a humble and unpretentious lifestyle.

Once, while journeying to the royal palace at Shiraz, he sought shelter for the night at the opulent mansion of a wealthy nobleman. Traveling on foot, Saadi wore dusty, threadbare garments. The arrogant nobleman and his servants judged him as a destitute beggar, offered him stale bread, and accommodated him in a damp stable.
বাংলা অনুবাদ: একবার তিনি এক ধনী ব্যক্তির বাড়িতে আশ্রয় চাইলেন। সাধারণ ও জীর্ণ পোশাকে থাকায় বাড়ির মালিক তাকে ফকির ভেবে বাসি খাবার দিয়ে আস্তাবলে থাকতে দিল।
Saadi said nothing and quietly departed the following dawn. A few months later, Saadi was invited to the court of the king and was gifted luxurious silk robes and ornate turbans. On his return journey, he deliberately revisited the same nobleman's estate dressed in imperial finery.
বাংলা অনুবাদ: সাদী নীরবে চলে গেলেন। কয়েক মাস পর রাজদরবার থেকে ফেরার পথে তিনি মূল্যবান রেশমি পোশাক ও পাগড়ি পরে আবার সেই ধনীর বাড়িতে গেলেন।
This time, the host rushed forward with lavish greetings, bowed subserviently, and escorted Saadi to a banquet table laden with roast mutton, saffron pilaf, and rich delicacies.
বাংলা অনুবাদ: এবার গৃহকর্তা তাকে পরম সমাদরে বরণ করে রাজকীয় খাবার খেতে দিল।
As the feast began, Saadi did something astonishing: instead of eating, he began taking handfuls of saffron rice and rich gravies and pouring them directly into his embroidered sleeves and pockets, saying softly, 'Eat, my noble robes, eat your share!'

The bewildered host gasped, 'Honored guest, why are you feeding your clothes?' Saadi replied with piercing dignity, 'When I visited in simple rags, you treated me with scorn. Today you offer this feast not to my intellect, but to my clothes. Therefore, it is my dress that deserves this meal.' Mortified with shame, the nobleman fell at Saadi's feet and begged forgiveness.
