Dengue fever is a painful and dangerous viral disease transmitted to humans through the bites of infected female Aedes mosquitoes. In recent years, dengue has become a major health crisis in Bangladesh, especially during the monsoon and post-monsoon seasons from June to October. The Aedes mosquito breeds in clean, stagnant water collected in flower tubs, discarded plastic containers, rooftop drums, abandoned car tires, and construction sites. The main symptoms of dengue include sudden high fever, severe headache, acute pain behind the eyes, intense joint and muscle pains, nausea, and red skin rashes. In severe cases known as Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever, the patient's blood platelet count drops rapidly, leading to dangerous internal bleeding. There is no specific medicine for dengue; patients need complete bed rest, plenty of fluids like coconut water and oral saline, and immediate doctor consultation. To prevent dengue, we must keep our surroundings clean, destroy mosquito breeding places, and use mosquito nets regularly.
