Title: Unity is Strength
An elderly farmer lived in a peaceful countryside with his four robust sons. Although hardworking, the sons were constantly quarreling among themselves over petty household matters. Their chronic discord brought immense grief to the aging father, who feared that after his death, wicked neighbors and cunning adversaries would exploit their division and ruin his family.
One evening, feeling his health failing, the wise old man summoned all four sons to his bedside. He placed a tightly bound bundle of wooden sticks before them and instructed each son to break the bundle using all their strength. One after another, the muscular young men strained with all their might, but none could even bend the bundle.
Then the father untied the string and handed a single stick to each son, telling them to break it. Effortlessly, with a light snap of their fingers, each stick was snapped into two pieces. The father smiled gently and said: "My dear sons, remember this lesson. If you remain united together in love like the bundle, no enemy can harm you. But if you quarrel and stay divided, you will be broken as easily as those solitary twigs." The sons bowed their heads in shame, embraced one another, and pledged never to quarrel again.

গ্রামের শান্ত পরিবেশে এক বৃদ্ধ কৃষক তার চার শক্তিশালী ছেলেকে নিয়ে বসবাস করতেন। ছেলেরা কঠোর পরিশ্রমী হলেও তুচ্ছ পারিবারিক বিষয় নিয়ে তারা সবসময় নিজেদের মধ্যে ঝগড়া করত। তাদের এই দীর্ঘস্থায়ী বিবাদ বৃদ্ধ পিতাকে ভীষণ কষ্ট দিত। তিনি আশঙ্কা করতেন যে, তার মৃত্যুর পর ধূর্ত প্রতিবেশী ও চতুর শত্রুরা তাদের এই অনৈক্যের সুযোগ নিয়ে তার পরিবারকে ধ্বংস করে ফেলবে।
এক সন্ধ্যায়, নিজের শারীরিক অবস্থার অবনতি বুঝতে পেরে বিজ্ঞ বৃদ্ধ তার চার ছেলেকে বিছানার পাশে ডাকলেন। তিনি তাদের সামনে শক্ত করে বাঁধা একগুচ্ছ লাঠি রাখলেন এবং প্রত্যেককে নির্দেশ দিলেন যেন তারা তাদের সমস্ত শক্তি দিয়ে লাঠির আঁটিটি ভেঙে ফেলে। একে একে শক্তিশালী যুবকরা তাদের সর্বশক্তি দিয়ে চেষ্টা করল, কিন্তু কেউই লাঠির আঁটিটি বাঁকাতেও পারল না।
এরপর পিতা বাঁধনটি খুলে প্রত্যেক ছেলেকে একটি করে লাঠি দিলেন এবং সেগুলো ভাঙতে বললেন। কোনো রকম কষ্ট ছাড়াই আঙুলের সামান্য চাপে প্রতিটি লাঠি দুই টুকরো হয়ে গেল। পিতা মৃদু হেসে বললেন, আমার প্রিয় সন্তানেরা, এই শিক্ষাটি মনে রেখো। তোমরা যদি লাঠির আঁটির মতো ভালোবাসার বন্ধনে ঐক্যবদ্ধ থাকো, তবে কোনো শত্রু তোমাদের ক্ষতি করতে পারবে না। কিন্তু তোমরা যদি ঝগড়া করে বিচ্ছিন্ন হয়ে থাকো, তবে ওই একা লাঠিগুলোর মতোই তোমরা সহজেই ভেঙে পড়বে। ছেলেরা লজ্জায় মাথা নত করল, একে অপরকে জড়িয়ে ধরল এবং ভবিষ্যতে আর কখনো ঝগড়া না করার প্রতিজ্ঞা করল।
