The Mighty Lion and the Compassionate Little Mouse

One scorching summer afternoon, a majestic lion was sleeping soundly beneath the shade of a sprawling oak tree in the jungle. A playful little mouse, scurrying through the dry leaves, accidentally scampered across the resting monarch’s nose and awakened him...

Enraged at being disturbed, the fierce lion trapped the trembling mouse beneath his massive paw and opened his terrifying jaws to crush it to death. The terrified creature squeaked piteously, "O mighty King of the Beasts, forgive my careless blunder! Spare my insignificant life! If you grant me mercy today, I promise I will repay your benevolence whenever you need assistance."
The lion laughed derisively at the preposterous notion that a minuscule rodent could ever help the sovereign of the jungle. Nonetheless, feeling amused and generous, he lifted his paw and allowed the mouse to scurry away unharmed.
A few weeks later, while prowling for food, the lion stepped into a concealed hunter's trap. Heavy ropes sprang up, binding his limbs tightly. In desperate fury, the lion thrashed and roared so loudly that the entire forest reverberated with his agonizing bellows. Recognizing the familiar voice of his benefactor, the little mouse rushed to the scene without hesitation.
"Do not fear, noble King," the mouse squeaked bravely. Working tirelessly with his sharp incisor teeth, the tiny rodent gnawed through the thick hemp knots one by one. Within an hour, the ropes parted, and the mighty beast leaped out to freedom. The lion bowed his head in humble gratitude, realizing that no creature is too small to render great service.
