Informal Letter: Sharing Career Aspiration to Become a Marine Biologist

24 February 2026
My Dear Ayman,
In your last letter, you asked me a very stimulating question: what career path do I intend to pursue after finishing college? Today, I want to share my deepest professional dream with you.
While most of our classmates aspire to become medical doctors or software engineers, my heart is irrevocably drawn toward the vast, unexplored depths of the ocean. I have decided to dedicate my life to becoming a professional Marine Biologist. Bangladesh possesses a vast maritime boundary in the Bay of Bengal spanning over 118,000 square kilometers, rich in coral reefs, offshore fisheries, and vital marine ecosystems.
Tragically, ocean acidification, plastic dumping, and climate change are destroying these fragile aquatic species. By studying marine biology at the University of Chittagong and pursuing postgraduate research abroad, I hope to lead marine conservation projects and unlock sustainable 'Blue Economy' solutions for our nation. What do you think of my choice? Do write back soon with your thoughts.
Yours affectionately,
Sabbir
