Informal Letter: Advising Younger Brother Against Mobile Gaming Addiction
Dhaka University Hall, Dhaka
10 March 2026
Dear Rifat,
I received Mother’s letter yesterday and felt deeply perturbed to learn that your mid-term examination results have dropped alarmingly. Mother mentioned that you spend four to five hours every night glued to your smartphone playing Free Fire and PUBG, neglecting your homework and sleep.
As your elder brother who cares deeply for your future, I must caution you against this perilous trap. While casual gaming for twenty minutes can offer brief recreation, chronic gaming addiction severely impairs concentration, strains eyesight, induces sleep disorders, and destroys precious academic hours that will never return. You are standing on the threshold of your SSC examination, which will define your future collegiate career.
I strongly urge you to uninstall addictive games immediately, limit your screen time to thirty minutes daily, and spend your afternoons playing football in the open field with friends. True achievement lies in real-world victories, not virtual trophies. I expect to hear positive news of your turnaround very soon.
Your affectionate brother,
Ashik
